Red Jasper is often included in several other stones. It's typically present in Pietersite, Brecciated Jasper, Hematite Jasper and other stones that have prominent reds. By itself, Red Jasper has a very distinct red that grabs your attention and refuses to let go of it.
This earthy stone links with the root chakra and anchors us to the earth, giving us a stable, balanced grounding to the world around us. This stone also helps inspire one to follow his or her passions or dreams.
The name Jasper means "Spotted or speckled stone" and is derived from the Old French term jaspre. Jasper is known to have been a favorite gem in the ancient world; its name can be traced back in Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Assyrian, Greek and Latin. On Minoan Crete, jasper was carved to produce seals circa 1800 BC, as evidenced by archaeological recoveries at the palace of Knossos.
PLEASE NOTE: Our Red Jasper tumbles come in two distinct sizes. The standard size is approximately 0.75 of an inch to 1.25 inches wide (similar to a traditional tumbled stone). The large stones are tall, more rounded, and approximately 4x to 5x the size of a standard stone.
