Pink Botswana Agate is the rarest form of Botswana Agate, which is the most royal form of Agate known to the trade. Botswana Agate features striking colors that range from the deepest grays and blacks to the finest of salmon pinks.
The stones included in this listing are predominantly — if not complete — the pink salmon specimens that often receive a premium due to their scarcity.
Agate is a form of chalcedony. Botswana Agate is a variation that's typically found in the Bobonong district of Botswana. The finely detailed bands in this stone are formed by the repeated floods in the area, as well as the slow-moving lava waves over the various levels of stone. Those waves lay down multiple layers of silica and quartz that create the brilliant banding.
This form of agate takes a very long time to form. The more layers and bands you find on a stone, the longer it took to form.
