Copper is a chemical element with the symbol Cu. It is one of the few metals that can occur in nature in a directly usable metallic form. This led to very early human use in several regions, from c. 8000 BC.
Copper is essential to all living organisms as a trace dietary mineral because it is a key constituent of the respiratory enzyme complex cytochrome c oxidase.
The oldest metal object found in the Middle East consists of copper; it was a tiny awl dating back as far as 5100 B.C.
Approximately two-thirds of the copper on Earth is found in igneous (volcanic) rocks and about one-quarter occurs in sedimentary rocks.
All tumbled stones are priced and sold individually, unless otherwise noted.
Due to the unique qualities in each stone, sizes can vary from 0.75 inches to 1.75 inches per stone.
