Goldstone, Blue Tumbled Stones

Goldstone — also referred to as Sandstone — is a type of man-made glittering glass made in a low-oxygen reducing atmosphere.

The original manufacturing process for goldstone was invented in seventeenth-century Venice by the Miotti family. Urban legend says goldstone was an accidental discovery by unspecified Italian monks or the product of alchemy, but there is no pre-Miotti documentation to confirm this. A goldstone amulet from 12th- to 13th-century Persia in the collection of the University of Pennsylvania shows that other, earlier artisans were also able to create the material.

The tumbled stones in this listing are Blue Goldstone, which gets its color from tiny crystals of metallic copper that require special conditions to form properly.

Since this stone contains copper, it has many of the same attributes as that metal. It’s said to help soothe conditions of the joints and reduces stomach complaints stemming from anxiety.

Metaphysically, Blue Goldstone is said to be the stone of confidence and ambition, as well as encouraging motivation and drive. This is an uplifting stone that promotes vitality.
