Chrysoprase — sometimes referred to as chrysophrase or chrysoprasus — is a gemstone variety of chalcedony that gets its apple green color from small quantities of nickel.
It’s that color that earned this stone its name, as "chrysoprase" comes from the Greek words for "golden apple" or "golden leek."
The best known sources of chrysoprase are Indonesia, Queensland, Western Australia, Haneti Tanzania, Germany, Poland, Russia, Arizona, California, and Brazil.
